Researchers & Librarians
Haden Plouffe
I am a composer/pianist, with a heavy focus on contemporary/unexplored repertoire in my focus as a keyboardist, with plans to archive music in both recorded and written format for under-explored, POC, and LGBTQ+ composers. My work as a composer has been performed in the United States and Argentina. I've written for a variety of ensembles ranging from solo-chamber-orchestral material.
My role in the D3 as researcher/librarian is to explore and provide students with a variety of resources they can use to explore more diverse/contemporary repertoire, whether that be making them aware of scores/biographies/texts already in the library, online resources, or places where they can more easily find and obtain repertoire outside of the standard canon. You can contact me at [email protected]! I use the pronouns he/they, and I identify as bisexual. |
Joshua Haugen
I’m a new music saxophonist, composer, and teacher from the Kalamazoo area currently studying at Western Michigan University. The main focus of my studies involves the exploration of 20th and 21st century music and music theory, set theory, the New Complexity movement, noise and experimental music, and other forms of avant-garde art.
As a saxophonist, specializing primarily in Baritone, I have performed at a variety of venues and areas in the United States, from solo recitals to ensemble concerts to premieres of new works. As a composer, I have written extensively for fellow friends and performers, with my output ranging from large orchestral music to more opaque works for solo instruments and small chamber ensembles. As a D3 researcher and librarian much like Haden, I seek to bring to light diverse works/resources/repertoire, be it from the long neglected to the generally unknown to the cutting edge and new. Finding diverse repertoire and resources in the world of classical music shouldn’t be as challenging as it can often seem, and I hope to help alter that for the better. Always feel free to contact me at [email protected]! For pronouns, I am fine with either he/him or they/them and I identify as straight. |
